Circle, Triangle, Square

This was a graphic design project, where we studied Bruno Munari's book, circle triangle square. This project was really fun for me, it allowed me to design what I liked and with the software I prefer designing with. Illustrator, the designing software, gives me the freedom to be inventive and innovative. I feel that my designs for this project are fun and new, giving Munari a new way to represent his work.

To start with we had 2 A2 sheets of paper, to which we split into 9 boxes. Using words for inspiration I designed initial posters with the three shapes. These are those designs;

Then, using illustrator I came up with 6 initial designs, colour and boldness were the things I focused on, along with giving the book a refreshing look. These are what I came up with;

Taking three of these pictures, the ones I thought had lost potential, I chose to further develop into the final series of posters.

I played around with colour and shape as to see what I could come up with. Using the masking tools I realised I could incorporate more than one or two patterns to create the tower of triangles. I wanted to give each of them contrasting factors. For Circle, I had the blue against the crushed paper white background. I like this design as it is simple but also has a lot to focus on. For Square, the blue and pink contrast nicely, but they both contrast with the wooden background. I also like this design as I think all the colours and patterns fit together nicely. For the Triangle, I mostly used the masking tool to create the patterned triangle tower, but I added he very bright, bold background to completely contrast each other. I also like the colours in this design and how they shouldn't, but do work well together.

These are my final 3 poster designs for this project.
